Whether you like to be active, relax with a book on the beach or visit museums - you will always enjoy your stay in Gdynia!

This port city, founded in the 20th century, impresses with its sandy beaches, coastal forests and modernist architecture. Here's what specifically you can do in Gdynia to get the feeling of a day well spent.

Take a walk to Skwer Kościuszki.

Skwer Kościuszki is a square named after Tadeusz Kościuszko. One of the favourite places to walk in Gdynia. You can see townhouses from the 1930s and the building of the Polish Navy command. You can easily reach the South Pier and the main museums from here.

Visit ORP Blyskawica.

ORP Błyskawica is the oldest surviving ship of its type in the world. Among other things, it took part in the evacuation at Dunkirk (1940). The ship has become a museum where you can see naval mines, anti-aircraft guns, depth charges, engine room, radio room, officers' mess and even a torpedo section.

See Dar Pomorza.

The Dar Pomorza is the first ship to sail around the world under Polish colours. This is a fully equipped sailing ship that you can visit. It first touched the water in 1909 in Hamburg. It later found its way to the UK (war reparations), France (as a training ship) and finally arrived in Gdynia.

Spend a day at the Experyment Science Centre.

The Experyment Science Centre is one of the largest interactive science museums
in Poland. It covers 200 posts. Here, children can experiment, learn and experience various phenomena. They create whirlpools, build sluices, learn about the laws of magnetism and do many other exciting things. Adults can also learn something new here.

Visit the Emigration Museum in Gdynia.

The Emigration Museum is located in the building of the Marine Station in Gdynia, from which thousands of Poles emigrated in the inter-war period. It contains a wealth of information on the phenomenon of emigration, including films, photographs, sound recordings and personal belongings.

The museum shows why people left Poland for places such as Brazil, Australia and the United States. The permanent exhibition is located on the first floor, but regular temporary exhibitions and other interesting initiatives also take place here.

Take a look at the Automotive Museum.

It is a private museum that houses 200 vintage vehicles, 50 of which are passenger cars. The museum also has a collection of 150 motorbikes from the first half of the 20th century. Special vehicles worth seeking out are the WFM Osa moped, the Ford Model T, the Škoda Tudor and the Buick Master Six.

Check out what the Gdynia City Museum has to offer.

The Museum of the City of Gdynia shows in detail the rapid development of the city between the wars. Here you will see many artefacts and documents from the period, as well as archive photographs documenting the construction of the port and its destruction during the Second World War.

Visit the Naval Museum in Gdynia.

This is a museum dedicated to the history of the Polish Navy. It is located in the same building as the Gdynia City Museum. The most valuable exhibit in the museum's collection is the Westerplatte Eagle. In addition to it, you will also see uniforms, weapons, equipment, paintings, photographs and other exhibits collected since 1853 mainly from the Second World War.

Take a look at the Gdynia Aquarium.

Here you will see more than 200 different species of fish, invertebrates, amphibians and reptiles.  You will see 4 lands: the coral reef, the ocean depths, the Amazon tropics and the Baltic Sea. All on over 900 m².

A cable car in Gdynia? Why not!

Z free cable car can be enjoyed on Kamienna Góra - the most exclusive district of Gdynia. The track is 115 metres long and is operated by the passengers themselves. The system is activated by buttons.

In addition to the railway on Kamienna Góra there is a observation deck. It overlooks the Bay of Gdansk, the marina and all of Gdynia's northern districts.

Take a walk on the pier at Orlowo.

The pier at Orlowo was opened during the First World War. It was 430 metres long, but now, through the storm, it is 180 metres long. The whitewashed wood, the benches and the view of the Orłowski Cliffs make this place loved not only by the inhabitants of Gdynia.

Visit Kępa Redłowska.

Here you can feel that you are away from the hustle and bustle and civilisation. Relax on deserted beaches. Kępa Redłowska is a 118-hectare nature reserve located between Gdynia and Orłowo. It was created in 1938 to protect coastal nature. The Orłowo Cliffs form a natural balcony. It stretches for 650 metres in length. Interestingly, the cliffs were formed from glacial sediments.

See the Babie Doły Torpedo Station.

Although the torpedo house is closed and inaccessible, it is clearly visible from the beach. It was built at the beginning of the Second World War for research purposes. The pier that connected it to the mainland was demolished in the 1990s. The torpedo house structure is also increasingly affected by the sea.

Relax on the beach in Gdynia.

The main beach is located below Stone Mountain. It is about 300 metres long. It is surrounded by a long promenade up to the Kępa Redłowska nature reserve. The fine white sand is conducive to pleasant relaxation. There are also cafés and restaurants nearby.
