Why is podiatry pedicure becoming increasingly fashionable? The human foot is made up of 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments and 32 muscles - as many as 20 of which are responsible for maintaining correct posture. All this makes it one of the most complex parts of the body. And, importantly, one of the most overloaded. Thanks to the feet, we circle the globe twice in a lifetime. They carry both us and weights, absorb shocks, provide stable support and, unfortunately, are still neglected and forgotten by many people.
In addition, they are exposed to many diseases, the discomforts of which can be so unpleasant as to impede daily work and the lack of appropriate treatment leads to many dangerous complications. Therefore, it is not worth waiting to feel discomfort or even pain. Healthy people are also welcome to visit the podiatrist at Quadrille Spa. We give them a professional podiatric pedicure to keep their feet looking beautiful and healthy. We ask our podiatrist Katarzyna Bojanowska about the specifics of this treatment.
Who can perform podiatric pedicure?
To be able to perform podiatry treatments, you need to have completed podiatry courses or, more recently, a degree with a specialisation in podiatry.
What is the difference between a classic and podiatric pedicure?
The classic pedicure begins with a foot bath in water with softening salts to make the specialist's work easier. Preparation of the cuticles and nail plate can be done with special cutters. The sole side of the foot is only worked on with a cap of the appropriate gradation. In addition, a salt, sugar or salt scrub is performed and usually finished with a moisturising and regenerating cream.
In the podiatry pedicure, we skip the soaking stage and go straight to disinfecting the feet and analysing their condition so that we can develop a plan of action with the client. We carry out a meticulous interview, inquiring about the client's state of health, past illnesses and type of work, as all this has an impact on the subsequent stages of the treatment carried out. Any hyperkeratosis (keratoses) is removed with a scalpel or chisel, softening it beforehand with preparations designed for this purpose. The finishing cream, on the other hand, is always selected according to the needs of the feet, along with a suggestion for continuing care at home.
Who is the podiatry pedicure dedicated to? Can anyone benefit from such a service?
There is no rule here. In fact, anyone can make an appointment for a treatment; it is up to the podiatrist to decide how to proceed. If there is no need for such a treatment, the client is informed. Most often, however, people who have problems with excessive keratosis of the epidermis, which after a prolonged accumulation looks unsightly, but also those who simply begin to suffer from pain, use the care of a podiatrist. People with problems such as cracked heels, ingrown/curling nails or various lesions that occur on the nail plate as well as on the skin of the feet visit the practice.
What podiatry-related services are available at the Spa?
We have first introduced a basic podiatry treatment and the application of the Rosa Fraser bracket - important for guiding the treatment of screwing and ingrown toenails. Another complementary treatment to the podiatry pedicure at Quadrille Spa is electrocoagulation of viral warts.
The whole correct posture of the body begins with the foot. It is therefore necessary to take good care of this locomotor organ to avoid complications in the future. At Quadrille Spa, we will advise you on how to take care of your feet. After all, they are particularly susceptible to injury and irritation, as it is on them that we place the greatest weight. The podiatrist will not only take care of the appearance of the nails, but will also select appropriate home care based on Podopharm products, plan treatment and remove those lesions that cause pain.
