The care of men's skin, just like women's skin, needs appropriate preparation. Manufacturers of cosmetics create special lines for men, which, in addition to care properties, must meet the most important requirements, such as light consistency, delicate, "masculine" fragrance and practical packaging. Cosmetics should be selected according to skin type and problem.

Cleansing is the first and most important step in basic skincare. It is worth remembering that it is not enough to wash the face with soap, as we expose it to unnecessary and excessive dryness. Men have more sebaceous glands, which is why deep cleansing is so important.

Skin care for men - DRY SKIN

If, immediately after cleansing with water and cosmetics, we feel dry and tense, and a few hours after applying a cream (even an oily one) we feel discomfort and roughness, this is a clear sign that we are dealing with a dry skin type, i.e. one that is extremely susceptible to irritation, cracking and requires special treatment. If this description fits your skin type, it is essential to choose cleansing gels that do not contain harsh chemical ingredients or alcohol.

Skin care for men - Oily skin

If you have skin that, during the day, looks as if it has been smeared with oil and shines excessively - it can rightly be categorised as oily skin. Therefore, use a cleansing gel that contains substances with an antibacterial effect (e.g. tea tree oil or clay). This will reduce facial shine during the day and properly prepare the complexion for the application of subsequent care products, such as moisturising and mattifying cream. It is also advisable to use cosmetics that contain exfoliating particles. Daily, gentle exfoliation will ensure that the skin is properly cleansed of dirt and excess sebum. Such well-groomed skin is not prone to the formation of blackheads and pimples.

Men's skin care - combination skin

Combination skin can be a bit capricious and is characterised by excessive oiliness in the so-called 'T' zone (night, forehead, chin) and dryness in the cheek area. Care products need to be chosen wisely so as not to harm yourself, but to improve the appearance of your skin. The smartest place to start is with a well-cleansing yet gentle face gel and an effective moisturiser with sebaceous gland-regulating properties.

A facial cleanser should be chosen - this will usually be a gel for daily use. Immediately after washing, a toner is used to even out the Ph of the skin to an appropriate level. The next step is to apply a serum (selected according to skin type, if required) and a cream, e.g. a moisturiser.
It is also a good idea to do a granular or enzyme scrub once a week (depending on your skin's reaction) with a suitable cosmetic. The peeling exfoliates dead skin and cleanses the complexion more deeply. In addition, once in a while we can also cleanse our nose with a suitable patch that draws out blackheads, thus getting rid of all impurities in one stroke.

A man's skin is about 25% thicker than a woman's. So let's not suggest our ladies' choice of creams. Each of us should individually look for what product is most suitable for us. Although men are more resistant to the weather and the razor blade, their skin is much more susceptible to bacteria, leading to pimples and irritation. It's therefore worth including salicylic acid in your skincare regimen, which has the ability to clear the sebaceous glands of blackheads and prevent the formation of any pimples. The action of the acid speeds up the healing process of inflammations and irritations and prevents ingrown hairs. It can be an ingredient found in a facial cleansing gel or toner to be used after shaving, for example, or simply before applying a cream. These are relatively low concentrations, so there is no need to fear a peeling effect like after a visit to the beautician. Men's skin care can be child's play as long as you choose the right cosmetics.

If we find it difficult to diagnose our complexion ourselves and choose the right products for our daily care - we have specialists for this who are happy to help.

This should be done by visiting a beautician or cosmetologist and talking about the products you are currently using and their effects. If the cosmetics you have been using so far have not had a satisfactory effect, they will certainly need to be changed or their use modified.
